From the submission of a 300-signature petition over two years ago to the unveiling of a brand-new skatepark, the journey has been incredible. Here is our journey and achievements, from groundbreaking to grand opening.
The construction work commenced in August 2020, starting with removing trees and stumps and excavating. Guy Monnet SA expertly prepared the site, enabling the highly skilled technicians from Vertical Technik AG to handcraft every curve. The team adapted to the terrain's realities, modifying some modules in mutual agreement between our association, the construction team, and local officials. The entire project was completed in a warm and collaborative atmosphere.
The Flow'Riddes association received support from 87 contributors from Riddes and Valais, raising CHF 10,850 through crowdfunding, surpassing our CHF 10,000 goal. This campaign garnered significant media attention, featuring in Info Riddes, Gazette de Martigny, and an interview in Le Nouvelliste. Additionally, the association secured CHF 22,900 in subsidies.
The skatepark, now open and adhering to current health guidelines, offers a unique space for skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, and BMX bikes. It's important to note that this is not a playground but a dedicated area for these sports. For everyone's safety, we recommend wearing appropriate protective gear. We also rely on all users to keep this beautiful meeting space clean and respectful.
The Flow'Riddes committee members extend their heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who contributed to this remarkable sports project. Your support has been invaluable. The skatepark is reserved for users of skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, and BMX bikes. It is prohibited to use it with regular bicycles, toys, or motorized vehicles. The skatepark is not a playground. For everyone's safety, appropriate protective gear is recommended. Good cooperation among users is important to prevent accidents. Do not use the skatepark in case of rain, frost, or snow. The skatepark and all its elements are not waiting areas. No objects or trash should be left behind. The manufacturer and the owner disclaim any liability in case of accidents.
