Anne Bassand, born in Geneva, began her harp studies with Catherine Eisenhoffer at the Conservatoire of her hometown. She further honed her skills under Marie-Claire Jamet at the Ecole Normale in Paris and later with Susann McDonald at Indiana University in the USA. She also benefited from the teachings of Pierre Jamet and pianist György Sebök.
In 1992, she was awarded the prestigious International Harp Competition of the United States.
