Tzoumaz White Trail

There are two routes to choose from: the 17km route (880 D+) and the shorter 12km route (660 D+). The choice is yours.

Created in 2020 by several members of the Pierre A Voir trail running committee in Saxon, this winter trail race appeals to seasoned trail runners and novices alike. Not to be missed under any circumstances!

The history

This trail was launched in 2020 on the initiative of several members of the organising committee for the ‘Trail de la Pierre A Voir’ in Saxon. One of the organisers, Pierre-André Reuse, explains the reasons behind this new trail.

“For 20 years, we organised the Tzoumaz Night Race, a ski mountaineering event. Over the last two or three years, we’d noticed a lack of enthusiasm for this night race. We needed to find something new to keep our motivation and enthusiasm alive. I approached the local council and suggested a snow trail. They immediately backed the project. So, together with a few friends – notably members of the organising committee for the Pierre A Voir trail, which also passes through La Tzoumaz – we took the bull by the horns and created this snow trail.”

A rapid success and a new addition in 2023

As soon as registration opened in 2020, runners were quick to sign up. “From the very first edition, we limited the number of participants to 200,” continues Pierre-André Reuse. And that number was reached very quickly.

For the 2023 event, the organisers of the Tzoumaz Trail Blanc have decided to offer, in addition to the classic 17km course with 880 metres of elevation gain, a new, shorter route to encourage runners who would like to try their hand at winter trail running. For this third edition, a second route of 12 km with 660 metres of elevation gain, open to anyone aged 15 and over, is being launched.
