Access by coach

Everything you need to know about travelling to La Tzoumaz by coach.

Access

  • By car: from the A9 motorway, take exit 24, Riddes.
For buses: from the A9, take exit 23, Saxon, and follow the cantonal road to Riddes.

(Buses are not permitted to use the Riddes bridge; there is a risk of a hefty fine from the police due to frequent checks).

  • Take the right-hand lane to turn right towards “Riddes, La Tzoumaz, Isérables” (sharp bend under the motorway).
  • At the T-junction, turn left, then almost immediately right near the blue furniture shop signposted La Tzoumaz.
  • Follow this road to La Tzoumaz, a 13 km journey with tight bends and a few tunnels (never turn off towards Isérables).
  • Once you reach the village, carry on straight ahead. You will see the Tourist Office and the gondola lift on your right.
  • Note: Many sat-navs refer to the village by its former name, “Mayens de Riddes”.

Bus services

  • Arrivals by coach:

For arrivals on Saturdays, the town of Riddes permits buses to enter the ski resort from 3.00 pm onwards for the drop-off of passengers only. A maximum of three buses may enter the resort at any one time (see official drop-off map); the others will have to wait in the Villy area (2 km from the tourist office).

Please let us know your group’s bus arrival times 10 days in advance so that we can coordinate all arrivals at the resort.

  • Bus parking:

– The town of Riddes no longer permits weekly bus parking within the La Tzoumaz ski resort. Buses must park in the valley at the Leytron car park for the duration of the group’s stay. The driver must arrange their own return transfer between Leytron and La Tzoumaz on the day of arrival, and between La Tzoumaz and Leytron on the day of departure.

– We strongly encourage groups to plan their buses’ arrival times to coincide with the opening hours of the postal bus service.

Above, you can see the orientation map, which will show:

– The official drop-off zones

– The Villy bus waiting area

– Access to the official car park at Leytron

– In the event that a group arrives late in the evening (after the post bus service has closed) and/or departs early in the morning (before the post bus service opens), the town of Riddes may, in exceptional circumstances, authorise a coach to park at La Tzoumaz during the night of arrival or the night before departure. Buses must leave the ski resort from 1.00 am onwards when the post bus service is operating. A prior written request must be made and will be subject to availability.

  • Bus departures

Buses must leave the La Tzoumaz ski resort before 11.00.

For Saturday departures, the town of Riddes authorises bus departures before 8.30 am or between 9.00 am and 11.00 am. A maximum of three buses may enter the ski resort at any one time (see official drop-off map); the others must wait in the Villy area.
